Adding to the list of Walt Disney World resorts under construction, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort is set to begin its next big construction project this fall. This is following the resort’s $150 million renovation last fall.
This 3-year renovation consists of an overhaul of the guest rooms, Dolphin Resort lobby, and meeting spaces. The Swan Resort’s lobby, public spaces, and coffee bar will be receiving a $3 million renovation. By the end of 2018, the Swan and Dolphin Resort will be completely transformed with updated guest rooms, lobbies and meeting spaces.

The renovation of the Swan Resort lobby will be themed around the water motif from the redesign of the rest of the resort. Guests will feel transported to a tropical oasis through the lantern lights, sconces, Bahama shutters and palm leaf designs. This redesign will provide a classic and elegant atmosphere to the Swan lobby, rotunda, front desk, lounging areas and corridors.
In addition, the Swan’s coffee bar, called Java Bar, will also be reimagined. The Swan Resort project will be occurring in phases so that the resort can remain operational for guests.
Construction is set to be completed by the end of 2018.

While still not publicly confirmed by the The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, a new 349-room tower is in the works for the Swan and Dolphin Resort. The owners of the Swan and Dolphin Resort on Disney property (Tishman real estate firm and Metlife Investment Management) are in agreement with the Disney Company to build this tower on the site of the current Swan tennis courts.
The new tower will feature meeting rooms with a rooftop terrace (providing views of fireworks at both Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios), a restaurant and fitness center. The hotel will also offer an expansive outdoor space outfitted with a pool and fire pit.
Construction on the tower is expected to begin by the end of this year and be complete sometime in 2020. However, we are still awaiting on official word from the Swan and Dolphin Resort about this future project.
The Swan and Dolphin Resort is one of many resorts currently being renovated at the Walt Disney World Resort. The Coronado Springs Resort is under extensive construction at the moment, with a 15-story tower and countless other resort renovations in the works. Similarly, the Caribbean Beach Resort is also under construction, with a renovated lobby, new dining, Skyliner posts and a new Centertown waterfront district.
Right next door, the brand new DVC Disney Riviera Resort and Skyliner station are being built, which will likely not open until sometime in 2019. Disney Riviera Resort, inspired by the beautiful South of France, will offer rooftop dining and easy access to the upcoming Skyliner system.
