Disney Channel legend Raven Symone recently opened up about playing “Thor: Ragnarok” fan favorite Valkyrie on the Disney XD show Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout! The show follows Peter Quill and the rest of the Guardians as they work to try to keep the Comesic Seed, a weapon that can create entire new universes, out of the hands of serious bad guys. Symone, who is most famous for playing the titular character of Raven on “That’s So Raven” (2003-2007) and Galleria in “The Cheetah Girls” films is proud to call herself a Marvel and comic book fan in an interview she gave for Disney Channel PR on Twitter.
Symone is especially a huge fan of the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise and her character Valkyrie who Symone in her own words describes as being a “... calm, cool, awesome chick.” We agree, Raven!
Valkyrie talks to Gamora in “Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout” | Disney Channel PR
What makes this episode stand out is that we get to see Valkyrie and Gamora interact with each other which we haven’t gotten to see in the Marvel films unfortunately. “I love that Valkyrie and Gamora are being very competitive in this episode,” says Symone. “Finding ways to just push each other's buttons throughout the whole episode, it's kind of fun.”
Symone’s Valkyrie even calls Gamora out by telling her, “You’re not exactly what I expected from the most dangerous woman of the galaxy.” Yikes! While we’re grateful that we get to see the kind of dynamic Valkyrie and Gamora have with each other in the TV series, we hope that we get to see them together on the big screen in the future.
