The Shanghai Disney Resort recently released the best news any “Zootopia” (2016) fan could ever hear. An entirely new “Zootopia”-themed land will be beginning construction later this year. Here is what we know about this new land so far:

The Shanghai Disney Resort only recently opened its gates in 2016, and this is the resort’s second major expansion since then. This “Zootopia” land does not currently have an official title, but it will be the eighth land in the park. There are really no specific details about the land yet, but according to the Disney Parks Blog, the land will feature a “major attraction that will seamlessly blend Disney storytelling and state-of-the-art technology to bring this fan-favorite movie and its characters to life.” Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde will certainly be making many appearances throughout this land.
With this land, we will receive a bunch of new merchandise, food and beverage options and entertainment themed around the world of “Zootopia.” (Personally, I just really want a carrot recording pen. And a shop with gigantic popsicles. Disney please,) Make sure to stay tuned with Rainbow Caverns as more details come available on all the land’s offerings!
There have previously been rumors surrounding the possibility of a “Zootopia”-themed land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World. While there has been no official word from Walt Disney World, this news may make this rumor more probable. We will keep waiting until D23 Expo to see if anything is announced.
Construction at Shanghai Disneyland is set to begin later this year! No year has been announced for when this project will be complete. Stay tuned as we update you on the progress and let us know your thoughts about this new land!
