What we know about the Star Wars Hotel heading into 2019

February 26, 2019

During the Parks & Resorts panel at the 2017 D23 Expo, Bob Chapek announced that a fully immersive, Star Wars-themed hotel would be coming to the Walt Disney World Resort. Since that announcement, we have slowly been accumulating more details about the upcoming resort. Here is everything we currently know about the Star Wars hotel:

Opening:

This hotel will be debuting some time after the new land Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios opens this fall. Other than that, we have absolutely no clue what the construction schedule or opening date of the hotel will be. We are awaiting the 2019 D23 Expo with hopes that more details will be announced!

Location:

The Star Wars hotel appears to be located behind, but not directly connected to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios park. However, Disney has previously announced that guests staying at the hotel would be granted a connection straight into Galaxy’s Edge. No other details have been announced concerning how this connection will function, but likely some Star Wars-themed transport system will be involved.

Immersion:

As stated, this hotel will be fully immersive and unlike anything we have seen from a Walt Disney World Resort hotel this far. Each room, or “cabin”, will have its own view of space. Guests will even be invited to participate in wearing full Star Wars-themed costumes to be immersed into the atmosphere even further! The hotel will be packed with different characters and will offer adventures for guests to partake in making the experience even more realistic.

Rumors:

One rumor suggests the possibility of guests being shuttled into the hotel as an immersive way to transport guests into the Star Wars universe. The permit filed for the hotel does contain a definite area of shuttle parking. Disney has also previously stated that this would be a luxury hotel experience, and fans are speculating that a one night stay could cost anywhere between $900 to $1000.

It is still very early on in the timeline of this new hotel, so little information has been made available. Stay tuned with Rainbow Caverns for updates as we learn more!
