Disney fans around the world have been excitingly waiting as news of Disney’s new streaming platform, Disney+, slowly trickles out.
Yesterday, Vulture released a list of every new TV show in production for the new streaming platform, providing audiences with some long-awaited details on the brand-new content in development.
The list covers everything from animation to musicals, with a good amount of Star Wars to boot — Vulture estimates 20% of the production schedule is set in that galaxy far, far away. While we’ve previously reported on some of these shows, others are total surprises.
The biggest draw on this list for many is most likely “The Mandalorian,” a live-action series starring Pedro Pascal from “Game of Thrones.” The series will written and executive produced by Disney live-action favorite Jon Favreau and will feature a rotating cast of directors slated to include “Thor: Ragnarok” director Taika Waititi. Details on the story and the characters are still murky, but Favreau confirmed on Instagram that the action will take place “after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order.”

The documentary series “Ink & Paint” coming to the platform will excite fans of classic Disney animation. Inspired by Mindy Johnson's book 'Ink and Paint: The Women of Walt Disney's Animation', this series “tells the story of animation at Disney, from ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ to ‘Coco’ and ‘Moana’, through the prism of an unsung workforce of trailblazing women who helped create some of the greatest animated movies of all time.” The show will feature interviews from female animators throughout Disney history, including a segment with 108-year old Ruthie Thompson, who began with Walt Disney Animation in 1937.
No premiere dates have been announced for any of these shows as of this writing. Read the whole list on Vulture, and let us know which show or shows you’re most excited to watch!
